- Some clients love structure, and even have a project manager of their own for you to work with. Then there are those clients who want you to project manage the project for them. There are pitfalls and advantages to both, but it's important to understand early on what role your client needs, and what level of management that will be required of you. Let's first start with the structured client. This client has a defined process for communication, and approval, and often has a project manager that is helping the job go through the paces on their side of the fence. We have found that projects typically go the smoothest with this type of client. The main reason is, they already have a process in place on their end, and you easily can build that into your plan.
