From the course: Typography: Choosing and Combining Typefaces
Welcome
(soft swooshing vibration) (xylophone vibration) - Typography is a deep and wonderful world. I'm Ina Saltz, and I'd like to welcome you to Foundations of Typography: Choosing and Combining Type. Whether in print-based media or screen-based media, you need to know how to choose the right typefaces for your projects and to understand what typefaces work well together and which ones don't. In this course, I'll show you plenty of examples and point out how and why typefaces get along with one another. We'll also cover different approaches to successfully combining type, such as choosing typefaces with similar anatomy and proportions, combining fonts with stylistic contrast, as well as fonts with a similar design sensibility. Type is a powerful tool in your arsenal of visuals, so you always want to use as effectively as possible. You're in good hands. I'm passionate about letter forms. For more than 30 years, I've been deeply involved in the world of type. I live, eat, and breath typography. And I'm excited to share with you Foundations of Typography: Choosing and Combining Type.
