Finding and testing web fonts

When you're ready, you can build your font library by purchasing licenses to use fonts on your Web sites, but when you're first starting out, I recommend working with a service that provides a variety of fonts to choose from, rather than individually licensing fonts. In this course, we'll primarily use Google Web Fonts and Typekit. There are other sources for Web fonts out there, and I share some of them with you at the end of the course, but I recommend Google Web Fonts and Typekit for a couple of reasons. First is cost.

Google Web Fonts are free, and Typekit has a variety of plans available, one of which is a free trial plan. While I require my students to purchase the Portfolio plan, so they have more fonts to choose from, I have done my best to organize this course around fonts that are available either in Typekit's free trial plan, or via Google Web Fonts, so you're not required to purchase any plans for this course.
