- [Voiceover] Publish Online is a really exciting technology, available with InDesign CC 2015 and later. Publish Online lets you publish any InDesign document online where it can be viewed in a browser. It generates a unique URL that you can then easily share via email, social media, or even embed the document in your website. I'm not gonna talk about the ins and outs of using Publish Online because there's my course here on Lynda.com, Publish Online with InDesign. Be sure and check it out if you'd like to learn more about Publish Online itself.
I just want to mention a few things about using Publish Online with animations. I have a sample here that is a collection of animations created throughout this course. Let's take a look at it in the epub interactivity preview panel. The good news is is there's not a lot of special preparation you need to do for your document to use Publish Online. You can use any kind of fonts, and you don't need special preparation for your images.
And, it beautifully supports all of the animations in InDesign. However, just like with any kind of document you're creating for distribution, like an epub, for example, you need to check your Publish Online documents in a browser to make sure they preview correctly before you distribute the URL. Let's do that now. I'll close the preview panel and let's go to Publish Online. Publish Online can be used by clicking this button in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
I'll click the Publish button, where it will be uploaded to Adobe servers. And we can preview it in our browser. Once our document is uploaded, we can view it right from InDesign. It opens our default browser and the document is online. As I go through this document, you can see that the animations work perfectly. So, using animations for Publish Online documents opens up some really interesting possibilities.
I've seen so many great examples of brochures, catalogs, portfolios, and other kinds of documents that use InDesign animations and Publish Online. It's a great way to create and distribute an engaging interactive document.
