- I'm Kristin Ellison, the content manager of design here at lynda.com. We've created this course to help you get started when it comes to learning design. Whether you want to become a graphic designer, learn how to draw, create a vector illustration, design an e-book, or paint digitally, this course will help you get started. We'll begin by taking a look at the fundamental building blocks of graphic design. Color, typography, and layout.
These topics are essential for all design and a great place for any new designer to begin. Next, we'll look at different types of design including logos, web design, digital publishing, illustration, and more. After that, we'll explore creativity. Many people are convinced they aren't creative. This couldn't be further from the truth. Everyone's creative, it's just a matter of knowing how to tap into it.
From there, we'll move onto the topic of software. I'll walk you through the major players so you feel confident that the tools you learn will meet the needs of your projects. Next, we'll explore the skills and project-based courses. We'll also get into exporting your designs digitally, as well as turning them into printed pieces that look amazing. This course is a general overview, but, throughout, we'll provide suggestions of other courses you can watch on lynda.com that go into much greater detail.
So, let's get started learning all about design and design courses on lynda.com.
