Join Amy Wynne for an in-depth discussion in this video Drawing proportion: view, part of Drawing Foundations: Figure.
- Working off the 3/4 view from our proportional worksheet…and the photo of our model which are in the exercise files…we're going to practice this 3/4 view.…First, we're going to make a mark, an imaginary line…that is going to ultimately start…at the top of the model's head.…Travel down, we're going to make a line for the floor line.…And in between those lines we're going to draw a plumb line…and this line is going to come down…through the center of the body…perpendicular to the floor…and this is a line that helps us compare one side…of the body to the other.…
Once we've dropped this line,…we can find the line's midpoint.…First, I like to sort of guesstimate it.…Find here and compare it to there…and that is just about the middle.…So we're going to make a notch for the midpoint of the body…and that tends to line up with the top of the pubic hair.…Then we're going to make a little line just below it…and that line refers to the base of the genitals…or the base of the whole hip region.…
From this line that we dropped just below the midpoint…
