Creating simple curved surfaces

- So we've been slowly breaking out of the box, while hanging on when necessary, to essential scaffolding to assist us in making quick decisions. The center line, as I've been sketching it on these simple cubic forms, slices the object in half, creating what's called a section cut. You can easily think of the section cut, if you're not familiar with the term, by simply imagining a loaf of bread and a sharp knife cutting all the way through it, and cutting it in half, or in slices. You can, of course, go out to the kitchen and actually experience it if you can't picture it. An apple sliced in half also creates a section cut. Now, the section cut is that part of the object that was previously hidden from view, so it doesn't pertain to the second half of the apple, but instead to the face that's revealed, which looks like this. Sections are incredibly powerful visualization aids, and in many ways can be thought of as simple orthographics extracted from a 3-dimensional form. Okay, so you…
