- This drawing challenge assumes you have access to a computer, printer, and scanner. That said, I want you to get the most from these drawing challenges. So, to help facilitate this, you'll need to have access to the following tools. A pencil, any regular 2B pencil will do. I prefer a brand called Tombow Mono pencil. It's a softer lead. It makes shading and creating dark blacks easier. You'll want access to a pen. On some of these challenges, you may prefer to use a pen to draw with instead of a pencil. Of course, you won't be able to erase, so I'll leave that decision up to you. When drawing with a pen, I love the medium nib Paper Mate Flair pen and a Pilot pocket brush pen. I actually use a lot of different pens when I draw. My desk has several cups full of pens, but for this course, you can use any pen you'd like.
