- This drawing challenge assumes you have access to a computer, printer, and scanner. That said, I want you to get the most from these drawing challenges. So to help facilitate this, you'll need to have access to the following tools. A pencil. Any regular 2B pencil will do. I prefer a brand called Tombow MONO pencil. It's a softer lead, and makes shading and creating dark blacks easier. You'll also want to have access to a pen. In some of these challenges, you may prefer to use a pen to draw with instead of a pencil. Of course, you won't be able to erase, so I'll leave that decision up to you. When drawing with a pen, I love the medium-nib Paper Mate Flair pen and the Pilot Pocket brush pen. I actually use a lot of different pens when I draw. My desk has several cups full of pens. But for this course, you can use any pen you'd like. You'll also want to have colored markers or colored pencils, if you want to colorize your drawings.
