Join Will Kemp for an in-depth discussion in this video Shadow mapping multiple objects, part of Foundations of Drawing: Light and Shadow.
…So now we're going to look at how light and…shade can be used within your composition,…and so far we've only looked a single object, and a single light source.…Now what we're going to do, is have different objects all…together in one scene, and see how that affects the shapes within the shadows.…And one of the best ways to get to learn how to see these,…in your compositions, is by shadow mapping.…Shadow mapping is a very simple thumbnail sketch of the shadow shapes, and…we'll be doing a practical demo of these later in the lesson.…
When you have multiple objects you have different challenges,…because the shadow shapes are not as predictable as on a single object.…When the multiple shadows combine together,…they create brand new shapes that don't necessarily relate directly to…the shapes of the objects because they've been combined in the shadows.…I've chosen a couple of Cezanne's still life studies as they give us…a single light source with lots of objects.…So these are perfect to try for our shadow mapping demos.…
