- The next artist I want to share with you is an artist by the name of John Beatty. He's based out of Florida. Now John has been a life-long comic book artist. He's done a lot of work for Marvel and DC, and he currently has been doing a lot of work for Disney as well, inking out a lot of their licensed product artwork. And this was a design he specifically was contracted to do for an independent project, and it was for a t-shirt, of all things. It's just an amazing example of John's drawing ability. It's a dragon, obviously, but to really appreciate everything that went into this, I'm just going to zoom in on a few areas just so I can talk through a couple of them. Firstly, on the leg of this dragon, I just love how he captured just all the detailing in the muscle work on the leg. John inks all of these by hand, so you can see the line work that he uses almost like a cross hatching technique to work out all the shading and create and form all the highlights to bring volume to this…
