- How did your plant drawing come out? Other than a still life, have you ever drawn a plant before? Did you give your new species a plant name? That's always fun. Let me share with you two drawings of plants I discovered. I'm a fan of sci-fi, so I got a little science fiction with my plants. In terms of this one, I just drew it with a pencil. Really loose, and that's what you see here. This particular plant has teeth and flames shooting out the top of it, so I kinda had fun in that respect. I scanned this in and printed out copies. Then, on the copies, I used my Copic pens, and then I just went in and started working out some shading. The Copic pens are great because they're kind of like a watercolor when you work with them. They do really nice, fine gradations, and they're nice and juicy, and it's easy to get small details, so they work really well. The end result of that is what you see here.
