- So did your drawing improve the character's overall pose? Do you think the contour in your drawing improved from what it was in the reference photo? Have you enhanced the overall clarity of the visual? Let me show you how I approached this. When I started working on my sketch for this project, I first determined what style I was gonna work in and I decided to keep this a very loose, kind of, spot illustration style, cartoon, if you will, and my initial sketch was very loose. You could see it here. I didn't worry about the looseness because that enables me to get the kind of flare and movement I want in my drawing. That's really important for this. The character is the same in terms of picking up on cues that were in the photo reference. He was an older gentlemen, balding on top. He had a slight beard and he's dressed in a suit, carrying an umbrella and carrying what looks to be like a stack of papers or a book, not really sure about that, but the whole idea was to make the limbs on…
