- Hi, I'm Andy Schwanbeck. I'm a designer and an educator, and I'd like to welcome you to the foundations of design research. In this course, I'll explain the advantages that research adds to your design process. I'll share some big ideas with you about where the design profession is headed and how we promote the value of our work. Then we'll talk about different methods and tools used to collect research, such as how to conduct your first interview, to discovering how effective observational notes can be.
Finally, we'll look at how to apply everything you've learned from your research, not only to guide your design process, but also to enable you to create highly effective design solutions that are on target with your user and your client. I'm very excited to share these ideas with you. Lets get started.
