- I love to read. My biggest struggle at times is choosing between fiction and nonfiction. About 10 years ago, I decided that I would start reading about great leaders. I launched my study of leadership by exploring books about the American presidents. I began with Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy, John Adams, and Ronald Reagan, just to name a few. What was particularly interesting to me was how they went about making decisions throughout their life, and during their time in the White House. Name your favorite president, and there's one thing you'll find behind the curtain, and that is a cabinet, key advisors, and a variety of people that assisted them. Everyone can benefit from a sounding board, and the various perspectives and advisor group can provide. Companies have boards, sports teams have assistant coaches, and presidents have cabinets, why not you? At times, no matter how hard you try, you can make some really bad decisions.
