Directing designers
- Directing designers can be fun. Seriously, it can be, and it can be inspiring and difficult, and frustrating, and magical. Let's start with the brief, which is how every project should begin. You've had a meeting with the client, and likely before the meeting, you had some idea about what the meeting was about, so you've had a couple of days at least with this client's job rumbling around in your head before your team learns about it. Your designers have not had that luxury of time to brainstorm, and let the ideas just sit in the back of their mind, so start at the beginning, and share as much information as you can without getting gossipy, although sometimes that's helpful. How and why did the job come to you? Did they like another project that you all did? What is the mission of the company, the client? What are the goals of the job?
