Window envelopes
Window envelopes come in many varieties. The most common is the commercial window envelope. It usually has a single window that reveals the mailing address. The size of the window in a standard window envelope is usually four and 1/2 inches wide and one and 1/8 inches high and the placement is 7/8 of an inch from the left edge of the envelope and 1/2 inch from the bottom. Placement of the contents on the envelope's insert is critical because the address and barcode must completely show through the window at all times with a 1/8 inch clearance so that it does not shift out of the window area. Now, a single window is the most common but it also quite common to see a double window commercial format. This style reveals both the mailing address and the return address which are printed on the insert. Large catalog envelopes can have windows like this one.
