One of the greatest benefits of mail is its tangibility, and the sensory experience of holding on to the physical piece of mail. The choice of paper can greatly affect the experience or the attention of the recipient. The standard white wove envelope is a staple of the mailing industry. It's clean, and simple, and professional, and designed to run on high-speed processing equipment. It's also important to remember that for letter-sized mail to be machine processed, it must be made of paper to begin with and comply with the other machinability standards that we've discussed throughout this course. So, let's start with paper envelopes, because paper is the most common material you'll find in mail.
