Start and stop the listener
- [Instructor] We can control the Oracle listener using the Oracle lsnrctl command. This command allows us to perform various tasks with our Oracle listener. If the bin directory of the Oracle home environment variable has been included in our Linux shell path, which we can verify by typing echo dollar sign and then in uppercase PATH, and as you can see, we have our Oracle home bin directory at the start of the path environment variable, so if this has been configured, we can run the Oracle lsnrctl command by just typing lsnrctl in the terminal window from the Oracle Linux OS user. We can also execute lsnrctl by specifying the full path of the utility, which would be the Oracle home with the bin directory inside it, slash lsnrctl. Both methods work. Pressing Enter will bring us into the lsnrctl utility, allowing us to control our Oracle instance. For example, we can see its status, as you can see we have an Oracle listener running using port 1521 and it is indeed listening to our ORCL…
