PMON process - Oracle Database Tutorial
From the course: Oracle Database 12c: Administration
PMON process
- [Instructor] Another Oracle Background Process that has a lot to do with recovery is the PMON process, which stands for Process Monitor, not to be confused with the system monitor background process we have just described. PMON performs process recovery when a user process or a session fails. PMON is responsible for cleaning up any changes made to blocks in the database buffer cache, and releasing resources that were previously used by a failed user session. PMON does that by periodically checking the status of all the server processes in the database.
