Other SGA pools and the PGA

- [Narrator] Woof. That was a long explanation for such a small component of the Oracle Instance, literally. The largest component of the SGA is usually the buffer cache. As it caches actual data read from disk. In rows, lots of rows from, you know, tables, lots and lots of tables. The second largest cache in the SGA is usually the shared pool. It stores the past presentation of single statements as well as metadata. This leaves us with the RedoLog Buffer. Usually making it the smallest of the major components in the SGA. But alas we are not done just yet. Bare with me for a few more minutes as we briefly go over several other SGA components. Some of them are not nearly as important for our daily administration of the oracle database as the shared pool, buffer cache and redolog buffer. But we still need to know about their functions in the SGA. Next on our list of SGA components galore is the large pool.
