How client connections work

- [Instructor] So, after we got all of the Oracle listener and network configuration basics out of the way, such as understanding the role of the Oracle listener as well as the purpose of the client-based TNSNAMES.ORA configuration file. Let's quickly review how an actual client to database connection work, step by step, ready? Let's roll. The first step in the connection between a client and an Oracle database is for the client to request to connect using a specific Oracle TNSNAMES alias, such as sales, in our example. The next step is for the client to read its local TNSNAMES.ORA file. There is actually a default location for this file, so don't worry. And search for a TNS entry that matches the requested TNS alias provided in the connection string, again sales in our example. Following that step, and after reading the TNSNAMES.ORA file and retrieving the connection information for the sales entry, the client has obtained all of the information required to reach the Oracle listener…
