- [Instructor] We have made it. The final Oracle background process for us to review. You should really pat yourself on the back for making it this far. I know it wasn't easy, but I'm sure it was worth it. As understanding what goes on inside the Oracle Instance, behind the curtain, is very important for an Oracle database expert. Hopefully, your supply of fresh coffee hasn't run out just yet, as the final Oracle background process we need to cover is also one of the most important one. That is the archiver process or ARCn for short. Similar to the database ride process, the archiver process also has the letter n in its name. That is because we can start more than one archiver process if required. We'll see why in a moment. The purpose of the archiver process is very straightforward. It is responsible to copy the Oracle redo log files to a remote storage device after a redo log switch has occurred.
