How can a data scientist be best leveraged for business?

(upbeat music) - [Interviewer] How do we best utilize data science teams or data scientists, do you have any tips? - Yeah, well the good news is we wrote a book on it. It's actually free to download. You can download it from O'Reilly, you can download it from Amazon. It was written with Hilary Mason on building data science team, building a data culture. The first thing that we call out in there is that rather than asking how should you structure your data science team, is ask the question of, what does it mean to be data driven? In a data driven organization, takes in data fast, quickly, processes it in a timely manner, and turns that into efficiencies to navigate the competitive landscape or to build new data products. Once you start with that, then you can ask where do I want lift to happen, where do I want those benefits to happen for that? That may be within certain teams or that may be broad based. Once you start with that, then you can say, what style of data science team do I need? Do I need more of an AI team, do I more of a decision sciences team that's helping me think about the choices we're going to make as we navigate the competitive landscape, and everything in between. (upbeat music)
