- [Instructor] Before we wrap up our discussion of data science in sports management, I want to talk about some of the elements of careers within this field. Now, the first thing you need to know is that there are three very general categories, or kinds of jobs for data scientists in sports management. The first is the traditional money ball jobs. That's where you are evaluating player performance. A second is the business-oriented jobs, like pricing tickets or negotiating media contracts. And the third is technical development, like the superimposed graphics in television broadcasts. There are many others, but these are some of the big categories, and, as you get creative, you'll find other niches that are available to data scientists. Let's take a look at the first one, assessing performance. Now, the way you go about this depends, in part, on the sport that you're in.
