DaVinci Resolve 12 has several built-in presets to help you apply the most common sets of Aspect Ratios over a ‘full frame’ image. These presets are ultimately controlled by the Output Sizing menu. Learn where to find these presets, how to reset them and where in the Sizing Menu you can override them.
- An extremely common filmmaking workflow…is to shoot full frame, 16:9, on your camera…with the full intention of changing your aspect ratio…by adding black bars later in post-production…very often right here, during the color correction stage.…DaVinci Resolve has two tools to help you do that.…One of which is kind of an automated preset,…but that preset is controlling guess what?…The Output Sizing control.…So let's take a look and see how that works.…
Up here in the View menu,…I have this Select Aspect Ratio option.…And I've got a variety of aspect ratios to select from.…Now, we're looking at this 16:9 giraffe,…and let's imagine that the producer always intended…to put black bars here to give it a little bit more…of a cinematic feel.…And we're going to start by coming up here to the View menu.…And I want to pull up some guides…to make sure that what DaVinci Resolve is doing is accurate,…and there are some built-in guides here…for our aspect ratios.…
