- Did that previous movie on shot matching seem a little laborious? Well the truth is there often isn't an easy way to match shots together. We've got some rules. Luma before saturation. Other than that, a lot of it is a lot of judgement calls. Is there an easier way of doing shot matching? DaVinci Resolve 12 is trying to help us out with a brand new feature called the Auto Match Tool. It's not a precise perfect ... I've done a great looking shot here, I've done secondary's, I've done vignettes, and now I want to apply to the rest of the scene and have everything match together, and I'm going to use this great automatic shot matching tool. No. The tool's not meant to be used that way. The tool is meant for you to do a good base grade on a shot you like, get it looking the way you want it to finally look, pretty close, and then you do your shot match, your automatic shot match, and then you go ahead and refine your grade after that.
