Understanding user caching: DaVinci Resolve 12: Advanced Color Grading

If you want real-time performance and don’t care about the quality of your image then the Proxy feature in DaVinci Resolve is your best friend. The advantage: It doesn’t require any rendering, it just works in real time. The disadvantage: If you’re working on HD or smaller frame sizes, the quality of your images is terrible. But If you’re downscaling 4K or larger images into a 1080 timeline? You might not notice a quality hit, while also getting a playback performance improvement.
