And I'm going to again, open up the Effects Library and I'll close down the Media Pool to give it the full length here, and here at the top are the built-in default transitions here in DaVinci Resolve 12. This very first transition, the crossfade, if you try to click and drag it onto video, it doesn't work, the crossfade is designed for audio, it's an audio dissolve.
