- [Host] There is one last thing you nee to know, how to relink your footage in Resolve. Resolve uses absolute file paths. Unless your hard drive and user name is named precisely as mine, which is not only unlikely, it's totally unnecessary, as you open each of the projects in Resolve, you'll need to relink your footage. The good news is, it's good practice. Even better, new in Resolve 12, a brand new relink routine that is way easier than it's ever been before. But, you will need to repeat this step for each new chapter. Luckily, when we're done with this training, you won't forget how to do this. Muscle memory, baby. It's one of the reasons I love creating this kind of project based training. Repetition is the key to long term memory. I'm now in a fresh install of the database we'll be using for this training. And none of my footage is linked. I can tell, because as I click on the files, they're all red, empty. I need to relink these files back to the clips in our exercise folder…
