- In this chapter, we're going to talk about building looks. And frankly, when people talk about color correction, it always seems that's all they want to do is build looks. They don't want to do the base grade. they don't want to do the shot matching. All they want to do is build looks. The problem with that approach, just jumping to creating looks right of the bat is, you'll never get your shot matching done. Every time you create a look, then you go to a new shot, you're going to have to completely rebuild that shot from scratch, because you have to do your normalization, you have to do fix color balance problems, you have to deal with skin tone matching and shot matching, and you're trying to do that at the same time you're managing your look and that never works. Which is why we've gone through DiVinci Resolve the way we have. Start with the base grade, do your shot matching, and then do everything else. And now we're talking about the everything else.
