Organizing your media with Smart Bins

- Really since the start of film editing, the media bin and now the folder, is the foundation for staying organized when you're editing. But a new foundation's being built in a new century and it's called metadata. So we'll take a moment to talk about what is metadata and then you'll learn how we can Resolve 12's completely new Smart Bins to quickly sort large amounts of media into useful, little containers. We're going to start by jumping into the media pool. And you'll notice, down here I've got this little Smart Bins heading with nothing below it. That's because we haven't created any Smart Bins quite yet. If we right click in this grey area, you'll see the option to add a Smart Bin. Now the first thing we need to do is name our Smart Bin. What do we want our Smart Bin to do? Because frankly Resolve is pretty dumb about it. It doesn't become smart until we tell it to do something.
