Lingo: What is a serial node?

- If you did this last chapter on primaries you saw me every now and then reference back to the node. And the node is a really fundamental concept here in DaVinci Resolve. If you don't understand nodes, you don't understand Resolve. So right now let's take a little time to talk about what is a node? In DaVinci Resolve a node is a fundamental building block. What you see here on the image on the left is a serial node. It's a type of node available to us here in DaVinci Resolve. You know it's the active node because you can see the orange highlighted border around it. That means it's active. Every node is given a number. This is given number one. There is no other node in this particular node tree. And you can think of nodes like layers in Photoshop. Just like in Photoshop you can add layers on top of other layers in order to build up your image. You can do the same thing here in DaVinci Resolve except they're called nodes.
