Intro to color correcting: Raw

- Now that we understand the theoretical differences between raw and log recorded footage, let's take a look how we can immediately tell the difference in DaVinci Resolve 12, and we do that by looking at the camera raw menu, and we're going to find our camera raw controls here in the camera raw menu in the primary section of the interface. I'll click on it. And this first shot that's pulled up is a ProRes LT as we can tell right here. By default, underneath the thumbnail, DaVinci Resolve will show you the codec of the shot you're working on. We're working on ProRes 422 LT. That's not a raw codec so the camera raw controls are dimmed. If you're on DaVinci Resolve, the free version, this is not currently dimmed because you can't do raw. You can. It's dimmed because this is not a raw shot, so let's down arrow to our next shot. This is a RED shot and now all of a sudden, our camera raw controls come alive or at least some of them do.
