- Now as cool as it is using reference wipes to match multiple shots together, even cooler is the fact that reference wipes are more than pretty pictures. They actually contain color correction information with them. So, the perfect example is this shot right here, and I'm going to rename this. I'm going to right-click on the still image. Change label and call this Cool. So, this is the Cool version, and let's say I want to take this color grade and apply it to this shot here in the viewer. How do I do that? There are a couple ways of doing that. One way I can do it is just to middle-click and boom, we've now applied the entire node tree that created this still onto this image. How the heck does that work? Well, if you right-click on any still, you can choose the option to display the node graph. Not only does DaVinci Resolve grab the still, it grabs the node tree that created the still. Not only that, this is actual node information, so I can grab this node graph, hide it down below…
