Part of the round tripping process when color grading a timeline is to send the timeline back to the non-linear editor (NLE). How do you create an XML that can be read by the NLE you want to send the color grade to? Author Patrick Inhofer walks you through the process of creating an XML with DaVinci Resolve that can be read by the selected NLE.
- When we were defining our terms earlier in this series,…one of the things I talked about…is the importance of the XML.…It's a text document that you export out of your software.…If you're in Avid, it's going to be the AAF,…that's what they call it, it's a slightly different format.…And here in Resolve, the way we do it…is how you do it in all of those softwares,…whether it's Final Cut 10, Avid or Premiere.…And you'll see I'm going to have…an export AAF option XML option.…
In Premiere it's just export…and then there's a fly out window…and one of the options is XML.…Final Cut 10, you're going to export XML.…In Avid, export AAF.…The concept's all the same.…I'll go ahead, select it.…In all of them, you're going to be given an export option.…Here in Resolve, we have a pull down…that lets us select different formats.…In those non-linear editors I just mentioned,…they only usually export in one format.…Final Cut might give you the option of 1.5 or 1.4,…that software typically doesn't go back more than…one or two versions of their XML format.…
