Checking the conform with a reference movie

- If you ever want to destroy the confidence that your producer, editor or director have in you, here's how you do it. You get halfway through your color correction session, your director thinks an edit point has slipped three frames. You check the reference movie, and it was rendered out by the editor, just before they exported out the XML, and the director is right. Somehow, an edit point slipped three frames. From this moment on, every single decision you have ever made will be second guessed by every single person in the room. You must create a timeline that is 100% accurate or, from that moment on, you will never be trusted by anyone else. That's why we ask the editor to export out a reference movie. It's not so we can watch the movie. It's so we can watch the movie played against our timeline, simultaneously.
