- In this movie, we're digging deeper into the hardware requirements for running DaVinci Resolve 12. As I mentioned before, these details get revised with each new update to Resolve, and Blackmagic updates frequently. So I'll get as specific as I can without dating myself if you happen to be watching nine months after this movie was recorded. As is ever the case when buying computers, Resolve is at its most reliable running on the fastest computer you can afford. This is especially true on long-GOP compressed formats like some flavors of H.264 recorded by DSLRs, and it's very true for raw formats, both of which usually rely on your computer's CPU not the much faster graphics card or GPU. And for 25 years I've been in this business, the more RAM you can throw at your computer, the better. Generally Resolve wants 16 gigs of RAM to run reliably.
