A lot of times when you create a DVD or Blue-ray disk, you'd like to add a little something before the menu, maybe a logo, or a brief movie clip to introduce the disk. And this is something that will load up automatically when your viewer first put his or her disk into the player before the menu navigation appears. And by the way, when you click the Preview button, you're going to see a preview starting wherever you happen to be in your project overview. So if I'm over here in the outtakes area or I'm here in scene selection when I preview it, my preview is going to start on that menu page.
Generally, when you want to preview your disc, you want to see it from the very beginning. So click on the little drop down menu and select Preview Disc. And if I select Preview Disc, you see that we start by going directly into the menu page. So, in order to add a little mini-movie prior to that menu page, I simply drag it up into my menu structure. I have a little miniature movie here called, Grisetti Films Logo. And if we play it, you'll see that it's just a sort of 15-second logo. And I'd like to add that before my menu. In other words, somebody puts their disk in the disk player, I want them to see my logo first and then go into the menu.
It's very simple to do here in DVD Architect. I simply drag it from the explore window up onto the disc here, so it's right in the root of the disc. However, if I were to preview my disc now, it's still going to start on the menu. The reason why is, because there's a little indicator here on the main menu page, Castles in the Sand. But you can see it's a little white star that sits on top of a purple field. You see that little thing? And that is an indicator of the start point for the disc.
And you can set that start point any place in your disc. We could start our disc here on the scene selection menu. I don't know what situation would call for that, but we can. All we need to do is move that little start indicator to my root clip here, which is my logo. And then it'll play my logo and go into the Menu page. I'm going to select the Menu page, and then select my logo. And you see that now my button becomes active, and when I click it, this is now the start point for my disc.
And if I preview it, you should see my logo first and then you'll see the menu page. So this kind of of a cool feature that DVD Architect makes very easy to add. Sort of gives your disc a little excitement, so you don't just open straight into a menu page. It's kind of a fun way to get your audience's attention prior to loading in the movie
