- Hey there, and welcome back to another episode of Video Gear Weekly. I'm Robbie Carman. - And I'm Rich Harrington. - And, Rich, this week we're talking about sort of a specialty device that sort of extends the capabilities of your DSLR or other video camera. - Yeah, a lot of the times folks have this challenge where their camera only shoots one particular format. And what they need, really, is to get that out to another format. Maybe it's an industry standard like ProRes, or Avid DNxHD, or something else. - [Robbie] Right. And the good news, Rob, is that these cameras are affordable and versatile, but, you know, for example here, we've got a GH3. And it's great that it does pro formats like AVCHD. - [Robbie] Right. - [Rich] But maybe the client has a specific need. - Well yeah and, you know, in modern post production workflows, we sort of have camera codecs and then we kind of have mastering and finishing codecs, edit codecs.
