- [Instructor] Hi, I'm Nigel French. Welcome to Type Tips. This week, I'm in Illustrator. And I'd like to show you a quick tip for creating an entwined, or interlocking effect, with type and some artwork. And I have here, my letter A, entwined with this grapevine. So we have the illusion of the grapevine going in front of and behind the letter form. This could be for a beverage label or for a decorative drop cap, for example. Here's my starting point. What I want to do first of all is make a clipping mask of the type, which, by the way, I have already converted to outlines, and the artwork. And the artwork, by the way, is Vector. So I'll select the two, and then use the keyboard shortcut, command or control seven, or from the object menu, choose clipping mask, make. Let's now come to my layers panel.
