- [Nigel French] Hi, I'm Nigel French. Welcome to Type Tips. This week I'd like to give you some pointers for creating a layout such as this. A product guide with a description of each of the items that uses a lot of white space. And that is my first point, the white space. In order to incorporate a lot of white space into this layout, the images are cut out. Their irregular shapes give the layout a more exciting feel, a much less rectilinear feel. The layout is arranged on a grid, but we don't necessarily need it to look like it is arranged on a grid. If you plan on cutting the images out, then your life will be much easier if you choose images that are in the first place shot against a flat background. These images have been shot against a white background. So I actually don't need to cut them out, I just need to make sure that the background is forced to a pure white.
