- [Nigel] Hi, I'm Nigel French. Welcome to "Type Tips." I have a tip for creating a simple index. Really, it's just a word list. I've written a book, it's called "The Type Project Book," and I want to include an index of all the typefaces that I've used or refer to in the book. I can't use the table of contents feature for this, because that would find the whole paragraph. All I want is the typeface and its page number. For a more thorough index, I could use InDesign's indexing tools, or as will be the case here, the main index could be prepared by a skilled indexer who can bring discretion and nuance to the job, something that a computer program can't. But for my simple word list of typefaces, I can use a script by InDesign scripting guru, Peter Kahrel. You will find the script at creativepro.com, where you can download it for a voluntary donation.
