Refine the matte
- [Instructor] Chroma key effects include properties you can use to improve the resulting alpha matte. Although sometimes it pays to add additional effects, and/or masks to improve the result even further. For example, with this shot, even though we're using Primatte Studio, we still have a few problems. The first is we still see the set. The second is if we zoom in, you can see some of the edges are very jaggy. Let's start with a mask. For the layer selected, I'll grab the Rectangle tool, and quickly draw the mask around our unicyclist. And that cuts away the set. This is called a garbage mask, because it cuts away unwanted parts of your frame. Ideally, you draw this as tight as possible around your foreground to minimize the amount of green screen, which means sometimes it's necessary to animate the mask.
