- There are over 5,000 job classifications in government in the United States. Of that, a few hundred are technology related. A person considering a technology job in government today has many choices and paths. How do you decide? Choosing a career path is a highly personal endeavor. Only you really know what you're good at and what you like to do. If those two criteria are met, in addition to those things having available good paying jobs, you'll be happy for life. Unfortunately, knowing what we're good at and what we like to do remains elusive for so many people. This isn't a career counseling course, so we won't tackle this topic head-on, but here are four criteria that can help with choosing a career path in government technology.
