…One of the finishing touches that you'll put on your apps is an application icon.…When you create your App Icons there are five point sizes that you need to do.…512 points by 512 points.…256 squared, 128 squared.…And 32 squared and 16 squared.…Now, I'm intentionally using the word points instead of pixels.…Because with a Retina display, there are twice as many pixels,…even though there are the same amount of points.…So you can create these application icons using a program like Photoshop or…your Image Editor of choice.…
And again, you're going to create 512 pixels squared,…256 pixels squared, 128 squared, etc.…And then the Retina versions, which are twice the size.…So 1024, 512, 256, 64 and 32.…So what are some rules to follow when you're creating your icons?…Well, the first thing you want to do is look at…Apple's Human Interface Guidelines.…You want to make sure you're following what they expect as…a good application icon.…As a general rule,…utilities should look more serious, while other apps can be more colorful.…
