- Over the past few decades, a variety of simulations in many different disciplines, have been created, that can be used to engage students and employees, while teaching difficult to understand concepts and skills. Having learners use simulation provides them with a rich understanding of the concepts at a deeper level than just hearing about, or reading about, a concept. Simulations allow learners to obtain immediate feed-back, see the direct consequences of their actions, and to witness results that might normally take a long time to manifest. Fortunately there are now simulations available in almost any discipline. Of course, medical simulations have been available for years. But now almost all disciplines have access to some type of simulation software. For example, in Biology, a student can undertake a virtual dissection of a frog. Or in business, a learner can undertake the running of a corporation and witness the results of short term thinking, and the failure of properly…
