Hello. I'm Oliver Schinkten. And welcome to Communication in the 21st Century Classroom. I've been a classroom teacher for 12 years, and I'm passionate about education and empowering students to be successful. Over the past couple of decades, education has changed a lot. The internet has revolutionized the ways we're able to communicate and collaborate, transforming the ways we are able to educate students. In the digital age, many of the skills that our students need to succeed remain constant. They need to be able to communicate and collaborate effectively.
However the tools they have available to do this have changed greatly. In this course, we will discuss the fundamentals of communications and collaboration and how they've evolved. We will explore important concepts, such as digital citizenship, and creating a positive digital footprint, and the impact these will have on our students' futures. We will discuss the importance of communication and collaborations within the classroom, the school, the community and beyond, and learn about tools and strategies to empower your students. From cloud-based collaboration, to video conferencing, audio and video editing, to social media and blogging.
By the end of this course, you'll have a greater understanding of 21st century communication as well as strategies which you can begin implementing with your students immediately.
