Understanding pipes

- So far you've looked at the nature of structures as well as the pipe network itself. Next, let's take a look at pipes and how they fit into the network system. Pipes form connections between structures. If we look at the Plan view here, we see pipes that connect from a manhole to an inlet, and then from an inlet to an endwall. So that's their job, is to connect between structures, and ultimately convey water, or whatever they happen to be carrying, from one structure to another. They're usually straight, but they can also be curved. They also come in different cross-sectional shapes, but the most common are circular, elliptical, or rectangular, referred to as box-shaped. Pipes are their own object type. If I click on a pipe, right-click and go to Properties, You'll see that Pipe is listed as the type of object. So it's its own special type of object in Civil 3D. They have their own styles. If I go to the Settings tab, and scroll down a bit, you'll notice that there's a Pipe section.…
