- [Trainer] Let's dig a little deeper into one of the main components of site design, grading. And actually, before we do that, I want to point out that there is another aspect of site design that's pretty important and takes up a lot of time, but we really aren't going to cover in this course, and that's the layout of the site. This is a very, very simple site, it's a square parking lot with just a few parking stalls and some paint striping, but just laying out this simple geometry took maybe 15 or 20 minutes. So imagine doing a shopping mall parking lot or a multi-building residential development and how much time would go into the layout of all of the curb lines and the striping in the islands and the parking stalls, and the buildings, and all of the driveways and those sorts of things, that's a big part of site design.
